Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of woman at Fort Worth Motel 6
A 34-year-old woman was found fatally shot Wednesday morning at Motel 6 on the South Freeway in far south Fort Worth, a police spokesman said Thursday.
Tashell Donetta Nichols’ body was found in the bathroom of a second-floor room at the motel in the 6600 block of Interstate 35W, according to a police report.
Johnnie Warren, 36, was arrested Wednesday evening after a brief police pursuit in the Longview and Kilgore area, a Fort Worth police spokesman said. No further information was provided.
Nichols had a criminal record in Tarrant County, including convictions for robbery in 2003 and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for striking a woman with a brick in 2010.
For the assault charge, she was sentenced to five years in prison and was released on parole in 2013, a Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman said.
The Motel 6 where Nichols was found dead is the same place where a woman was killed in November. Tyera Mukes, 24, was in the motel lobby early Nov. 30 when she was fatally shot.
Joshua Montrel Lewis, the man arrested in Mukes’ death and another killing that same morning, confessed to both slayings in a letter to his judge in January. He remains in the Tarrant County Jail’s maximum security facility.
