Fort Worth apartment dwellers shoot robbery suspect
Apartment residents shooting at two men trying to break in the door hit one of them Monday night, and a woman who had gone to bed in an apartment next door was wounded in the exchange of gunfire, police reported.
The woman, whom police did not identify Tuesday, was in her apartment in the complex in the 2800 block of Las Vegas Trail. She was in good condition Tuesday at a hospital, police said.
Officers responding to a shooting call shortly before 9 p.m. Monday found Cornelius Andrus, 20, wounded, said Sgt. Steven Enright, a police spokesman.
Witnesses said Andrus and a companion had tried to force their way into an apartment. When they couldn’t get in, they fired at the door. People inside the apartment fired back, Enright said.
The woman in the next apartment was hit when a bullet went through the wall.
Andrus was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and aggravated assault charges related to outstanding warrants, Enright said.
Enright said he did not know how badly Andrus was wounded or where he and the second man were being held Tuesday night.
