Body found in Lake Worth after man seen jumping from bridge
Almost three hours after a man was seen jumping off the West Loop 820 bridge into Lake Worth on Monday, a body was found in the water.
Emergency crews were dispatched to West Loop 820 near Heron Drive about 10:45 a.m., said Lt. Kyle Falkner, a Fire Department spokesman.
Donnie Smith, 70, of Fort Worth was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m., shortly after his body was pulled from the water, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office. The ME’s office had not ruled on the cause and manner of death by Monday evening.
According to a MedStar spokesman, a witness reportedly saw an adult man jump off the bridge.
A car, believed to belong to Smith, was found on the bridge and has been impounded, authorities said.
