Most Wanted Fort Worth sex offender arrested; tipster to get $5,000
A Fort Worth man on the state’s most wanted sex offender list was arrested Friday, a day after the Texas Department of Public Safety offered $5,000 for information leading to his capture.
Lavinci Damon Henderson, 41, is accused of sexually assaulting a child and of failing to register as a sex offender. He was arrested by U.S. marshals and DPS troopers at a Fort Worth house, according to a DPS news release. Fort Worth police assisted in the case.
In 1994, Henderson was convicted in Tarrant County of two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child and two counts of aggravated kidnapping. The girls were 12 and 13 and were threatened with a firearm, according to the DPS.
He was sentenced to eight years in prison and was released after completing his sentence in February 2001, said Jason Clark, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
In June 2014, Forest Hill police investigated a complaint that Henderson had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl, Forest Hill Capt. J.W. Cozby wrote in an email. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
But he was not arrested until September 2014, when he went to Fort Worth police to register as a sex offender and was arrested on the Forest Hill warrant, Cozby said.
Henderson was indicted in February 2015, according to county records.
The 371st state District Court issued a warrant for Henderson’s arrest in July 2015, according to the DPS. But he eluded arrest.
In October 2015, Fort Worth police issued a warrant for his arrest for failing to register as a sex offender.
Lavinci was in the Mansfield Jail on Monday night with bail set at $6,836. His bail had not been posted for the sex assault charge.
His next hearing is set for March 23.
The tipster will receive the $5,000 reward, the DPS said.
