A Fort Worth man was shot to death Monday night on an Everman street, police said.

A confrontation in the middle of a street ended with one man shot to death Monday night and police searching for a gunman.

Officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified the victim as Dannie Glan Neal, 27, of Fort Worth. He was pronounced dead at the scene, where he died from gunshot wounds to his head, chest and abdomen.

Police continued to search for the gunman Tuesday.

Patrol officers were dispatched to a shooting call shortly before 7:30 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Georgetown Drive.

Neal had been driving from Arlington to Everman when he noticed that he was being followed. Neal knew the driver, police said.

Neal stopped near Georgetown Drive and Peppermill Lane to confront the motorist. Neal was alone in his vehicle.

“When Neal exited his vehicle, the male then fired multiple rounds at Neal from his vehicle,” said police Sgt. Craig Spencer in a Tuesday news release.

After Neal fell to the ground, the suspect exited his vehicle, approached the victim and fired one additional round, police said. No one else was in the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect jumped back into his vehicle and drove away.

No other injuries were reported.

The last homicide in the city occurred in 2005 during a murder-suicide.
