Several west Fort Worth residents awoke Valentine’s Day to find messages not of love, but of hate toward Fort Worth police scrawled on their homes and property.

Fernando Perez said he was leaving for church Sunday morning when he discovered the words, “F--- the Fort Worthe police” written in black spray paint on his garage door at his home in the 10500 block of Lone Pine Lane.

“My garage door started coming down. I’m like, “Oh my God. What’s going on here?” Perez said.

He discovered a similar scrawl on a screened window on the side of his house and that three neighbors on his block had been targeted. One neighbor’s company car, a Ford Taurus, was vandalized, he said.

A street away, in the 10400 block of Gray Oak Lane, an RV was discovered with anti-police graffiti and two gang tags, said Sgt. Steven Enright, a police spokesman.

“While today is a day that's supposed to signify Love, today me and my Neighbors woke up to find this hate and graffiti vandalism this morning in our backyard and property,” Perez posted on his Facebook page, along with pictures of some of the graffiti. “As a Christian I forgive them but I certainly hope they get caught!”

The vandalized homes and property, all in the Chapel Creek subdivision, have no connection to Fort Worth police officers and appear to have been targeted randomly. Some of the graffiti included the letters “SHS,” which Enright said gang unit officers suspect is likely a moniker.

Perez said he’s hoping it’s an isolated incident.

“I’m thinking someone had a bad run-in with the cops,” Perez said. “This is their way of expressing it.”
