Police: Man took fake gun to White Settlement school bus stop
A man in his 20s was arrested Friday morning on a felony terroristic threat charge after he took a fake gun to a school bus stop in White Settlement.
Police were still investigating the incident Friday morning and did not release the man’s name. His bail amount is pending.
White Settlement police received a call at 7:40 a.m. from a family member of the man, saying the man left his house and was heading toward the bus stop with a weapon, Sgt. R. Yount said.
Several Brewer High School students also reported seeing the man near the bus stop with a gun.
When officers arrived in the area, they located the man on a bicycle and arrested him at the intersection of Moran Street and South Redford Lane, a few blocks away from the bus stop, Yount said.
“It was not a real gun,” Yount said. “He did not point the weapon at anybody. It was in his waistband, and he made a comment. He didn’t directly threat any of the individuals there.”
Yount said the man might have been escorting a younger sibling who attends Brewer High School to the bus stop.
A spokeswoman for the White Settlement school district directed questions to police but said the school district was aware of the situation.
