Fort Worth police arrest second man in October killing

Police have made a second arrest in a murder case from October 2015.

Damound Charles Carroll, 22, was arrested Friday in the slaying of Lewis Blaylock, 30, at Cavile Place apartments in east Fort Worth on Oct. 29.

Officers said they were called to the 4900 block of Calumet Street at 8:56 that night and found Blaylock in the apartments’ common area, shot several times.

Blaylock was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died of gunshot wounds to the back at 9:30 p.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner.

Police said in October that Blaylock was shot after an argument turned physical.

Fort Worth police spokeswoman Tracey Knight wrote in an email Sunday night that Carroll was arrested without incident by the fugitive unit. He was in Mansfield Jail on Sunday with bail set at $50,000.

Ervinson Wiley, 28, was arrested by fugitive officers in Fort Worth last week in the killing. He was in the Tarrant County Jail on Sunday with bail set at $250,000.

A warrant was issued for Carroll’s arrest on Jan. 21 in a separate case in which he was accused of lying to a doctor to get codeine, according to Tarrant County public records.

On May 7, Wiley was released from the Tarrant County Jail, where he had been held since April 2013 on a felony indecency-fondling charge. He was sentenced to two years on the charge but was released on time served in jail.
