Former Graham teacher’s aide accused of having sex with junior high student
A former teacher’s aide at Graham Junior High has been accused of having sex with an eighth-grade student who was a friend of her daughters’.
Allison Amber Oliver, 37, faces second-degree felony charges of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship with a student, Graham Police Chief Tony Widner said.
Oliver, who is married with three children, was arrested on Tuesday and released later that day on $50,000 bail.
Oliver and the teen, identified in an arrest warrant affidavit as “John Doe 15-12,” exchanged 11,939 phone calls and text messages, documents show.
Oliver is accused of having sex with the teen in her Ford Expedition after she drove him to a remote location behind Wal-Mart in May. John Doe told investigators that he was “weirded out” afterward and said it was an “in the moment thing,” according to arrest warrant affidavits written by Graham police Lt. Jim Reeves.
They had sex a second time — again at a “secluded area behind Wal-Mart” — in August, just before football workouts were scheduled to start, according to the affidavit.
Graham is about is 90 miles northwest of Fort Worth. Its high school is in Class 4A with about 700 students.
Suspect fired in October
Graham school Superintendent Sonny Cruse said that once rumors began circulating, Oliver was put on administrative leave. Cruse said Oliver, who had worked for the district since 2009, was fired in October.
“We have a small community, so it gets out there,” Cruse said.
Cruse called Graham police in October after he received reports that Oliver was involved in an “inappropriate relationship” with a student at Graham Junior High.
The next day, on Oct. 13, the junior high school’s principal, Ginger Robbins, called the school resource officer and said several students had seen a photo of a woman’s breasts, apparently sent on Snapchat to a student after the student told Oliver that he was going to “tell adults about her” if she didn’t send the picture, according to the affidavit.
The photo did not show a face.
Robbins gave the officer the names of the two students who “bragged about seeing the picture” and had it.
On Oct. 14, Cruse told police that the investigation had been turned over to Graham High School Principal Joe Gordy, who had interviewed the teen, who is now a freshman at the high school.
Gordy said that he found the nude photo, and that the teen admitted to him and his mother that he had sex twice with Oliver, according to the affidavit.
On Oct. 15, the teen was interviewed at Virginia’s House, a nonprofit that works to protect youth from child abuse.
During the interview, the teen said he was dating one of Oliver’s daughters and would go to her house to hang out during his eighth-grade year at Graham Junior High.
He said Oliver started acting “weird” around him, and one day when he was playing “cops and robbers” with another friend and while running by her house she called him over and kissed him.
He said she “took his cap off, grabbed his face with both her hands, and kissed him.” He said that afterward she put his hat back on and told him to go.
The boy told detectives it was the first time he had kissed someone “like that” and thought, “Whoa, I just kissed someone.”
He told investigators he didn’t go back to the house for a while after that, but one day in May 2015 he called to see if he could hang out with Oliver’s daughters. When he got there, they weren’t there, so Oliver told him she was going to take him to go get them.
Instead, he said, she took him behind a Wal-Mart and they had sex in the back of her Ford Expedition. At one point, Oliver’s son called on her cellphone and “interrupted them having sex,” the teen told investigators.
Then in August he went back to Oliver’s house with a friend while he knew her children weren’t home, he said. He said Oliver told his friend to leave, and then he and the woman kissed in her kitchen, got into her Ford Expedition and went to the secluded area behind Wal-Mart and had sex again.
He said he started feeling ill and told her he didn’t want to have sex again, according to the affidavit.
The teen told detectives he sent Oliver a text message that night that he was feeling horrible and was done.
She replied that when he turned 19 she wanted to “run away” with him, he said. This was at the end of the summer.
At one point, she told him that she loved him, John Doe said.
Kept it ‘all inside’
The boy said he told a friend about having sex with Oliver, but he didn’t tell his girlfriend because he didn’t want her to think he was “the bad guy or hate her mother.”
He told investigators he kept it “all inside.”
When detectives interviewed another teenager about the case, he said he had heard rumors that John Doe was having sex with Oliver, but didn’t believe them until he started prank calling Oliver on her cellphone anonymously, and saying “We know what you did,” and hanging up.
He said one day Oliver finally said to contact her on Snapchat, where she eventually acknowledged to him that she had been having sex with John Doe.
The teen told investigators that he asked Oliver for pictures, and she eventually sent a photo from “the bottom of her neck to the top of her waist.” She then asked that he never tell anyone about her relationship with John Doe, the teen said.
The teen then showed the picture to a “large group of friends.”
He said he asked Oliver at one point why she picked John Doe, and she said it was because he was “so much more mature than the rest of his class.”
The teen said he asked her if she would ever have sex with him and she said she “probably would.”
Detectives interviewed two more teenagers who said they were aware of the relationship Oliver had with John Doe.
Widner said the Young County district attorney had to recuse herself from prosecuting the case over a conflict of interest. Because of that, the case was filed in Wichita County.
A special prosecutor has been appointed to try Oliver.
“Even though it took some time to complete due to the technical aspects encountered with some of the evidence, I feel that it was a job well done,” Widner said.
Oliver comes from a well-known family in Graham and is the daugher of Clint and Sadie Young.
Oliver’s mother, Sadie Young taught elementary school in Graham for more than 30 years. She died in July.
