Police are accusing Ervinson Wiley of fatally shooting Lewis Blaylock near the J.A. Cavile Place apartments on Calumet Street.

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in a shooting death in October in east Fort Worth.

Ervinson Wiley was taken into custody about 5 p.m. Monday by fugitive officers in Fort Worth. He remained in the Mansfield jail on Tuesday with bail set at $250,000.

Wiley is accused of shooting Lewis Blaylock, 30, on Oct. 29.

Officers were first dispatched on a shooting call to a vacant lot in the 5300 block of Calumet Street. They later found Blaylock in the common area of the J.A. Cavile Place apartments at 4955 Calumet St. with two gunshot wounds, police said.

Blaylock was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

Police said in October that Blaylock was shot after a verbal altercation turned physical.

Dozens of people were outside the complex when the shooting took place, but “none of the witnesses are willing to speak with the police,” homicide Sgt. Joe Loughman said then.

An arrest warrant affidavit for Wiley was not immediately available Tuesday.

On May 7, Wiley was released from the Tarrant County Jail where he had been since April 2013 on a felony indecency-fondling charge. He was sentenced to two years on the charge but was released on time served in jail.

Wiley also has been convicted of attempted possession of under 1 gram of cocaine, burglary of a vehicle and property theft, all misdemeanor charges.
