Man struck and killed by car in far north Fort Worth

A 70-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Monday in far north Fort Worth.

Rexton Martin, of Fort Worth, was pronounced dead at 11:13 a.m. at the scene of an accident near the intersection of Beach Street and Gila Bend Lane, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

A four-door Chevrolet Impala that had been southbound on Beach turned left onto Gila Bend and hit Martin, who was walking across the street, said Sgt. Steven Enright, a police spokesman.

Martin lived on Fox Chase Drive, about a mile away from where the accident occurred, according to medical examiner records.

The driver of the car stayed at the scene until police arrived, and then later left in a vehicle driven by someone else.
