Police seek men who robbed Fort Worth bar at gunpoint
Police are searching for two men who robbed a Fort Worth bar Tuesday evening, forcing patrons into a backroom and making off with money and liquor.
The robbery occurred about 6:23 p.m. at the Algerita Night Club at 221 Riverside Drive.
Witnesses told police that five people were inside the bar when the two robbers — wearing red bandanas over their faces, rubber gloves, and hooded sweatshirts — came in through the front door.
The men demanded money and a cellphone from the bartender. When the bartender replied he had no money, one of the suspects hopped over the bar, pushed a gun into the bartender’s ribs, and stole more than $200 and a cellphone from the man’s pocket, according to a police report.
The suspects then ordered everyone inside the bar into a back room. Detective M.R. Ramirez said the men were aggressive, grabbing one woman by the hair and pushing her into the room.
The report states the men also took $60 from the bar’s register and four bottles of liquor before leaving through the front door.
Ramirez said the suspects are believed to be 18 to 25 years old and may be familiar with the bar.
One suspect, described as taller and thinner than the other, wore a burnt orange Texas Longhorn hoodie. The other wore a black hoodie and carried a bag, the report states.
