Arlington police still investigating teen’s shooting death

Police are still investigating the shooting death of a man found in an Arlington backyard this weekend.

Michael Hartley, 18, had gunshot wounds to the torso and was pronounced dead at 8:04 a.m. Saturday, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner's office.

Detectives continued to interview witnesses Monday morning, said Lt. Chris Cook, an Arlington police spokesman.

Hartley was found by a homeowner in the backyard of a residence in the 4800 block of Brady Circle. Police said the homeowner did not know the victim, who lived a few houses down.

“He ran from the location where he was shot, and that's how he ended up in the backyard,” Cook said.

On Saturday, police asked residents of the neighborhood to check video surveillance footage between 1 and 4 a.m. that might have captured a dark-color SUV followed by two to three cars.
