Robber uses bomb threat to hold up Fort Worth bank
Police are searching for the robber of a bank in the Medical District who told a bank teller Friday that he had a bomb in his backpack and that he wanted cash.
Police released a photo of the suspect from surveillance video on Saturday.
The robber walked into the Comerica Bank, 1560 W. Magnolia Ave., about 1:30 p.m. and asked for $100 bills, according to police. The teller handed over cash, and the bandit ran off, leaving his backpack behind, according to police.
Fort Worth fire department bomb squad personnel arrived and detonated the backpack, police said. There was no bomb. Authorities would not say what the backpack contained.
Police and federal officials are investigating.
