Body found in ‘freshly dug’ grave in Wise County
The Wise County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a woman with Fort Worth ties whose body was found Saturday in a “freshly dug” grave near Boyd, Chief Deputy Kevin Benton said Monday.
Sheriff’s deputies responded about 4:30 p.m. Saturday to a call about a grave in a rural, wooded area off County Road 4680, Benton said. The deputies found the body of a white female in her late 30s.
The body was taken to the Dallas County medical examiner’s office, which will release her identity after relatives have been notified, Benton said.
Saturday night, investigators identified a person of interest, a 28-year-old Fort Worth man who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for a parole violation, Benton said. Deputies arrested him on the warrant at his mother’s home in Decatur, Benton said.
He was sentenced in 2012 to five years in state prison for causing bodily injury to a child, according to Tarrant County records.
Fort Worth police executed a search warrant of the man’s home in southeast Fort Worth on Sunday, Benton said. Texas Rangers are also assisting in the investigation.
