Snow ends, but cold to continue all week
Light snow began falling in Fort Worth at about 5 a.m. Monday, but because temperatures hovered above freezing, most travel concerns were west of Tarrant County.
Fort Worth received “a little bit of light accumulation but mainly on elevated surfaces like picnic tables or the hood of your car,” said Daniel Huckaby, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service office in Fort Worth. “Even the grass isn’t going to accumulate much.”

Parts of Tarrant County received 1/2-1 inch of snow, the NWS office said. Up to 3 inches of snow accumulated in Weatherford and other parts of Parker County.
No precipitation was forecast for Monday night, but a low of 30 was predicted — the first freeze of the season, the weather service said.

Texas Department of Transportation crews plowed snow off Interstate 20 near Weatherford early Monday, spokesman Val Lopez said.
“Generally speaking, ice wasn’t an issue,” Lopez said. “Everything is certainly passable.”
Also, early Monday, a mudslide shut down an exit on southeast Loop 820.
An embankment between the access road and the exit ramp onto Sun Valley Drive collapsed about 6 a.m., Lopez said.
The southbound exit will be closed indefinitely. Traffic on the main highway wasn’t affected.
Lopez said the collapse likely was caused by moisture built up behind the embankment.
At Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, 327 flights were delayed and 285 were cancelled by 1 p.m., according to FlightAware.com.
Precipitation ended about mid-morning, but the cold temperatures are here to stay.
“After the warm weather we’ve had, we’re going to be cooler than normal the entire week,” Huckaby said. “It’s going to be quite chilly for anyone going out New Year’s Eve, likely in the 30s.”
