A man who was being robbed in an apartment complex parking lot was shot to death Tuesday night as he tried to run away, police said Wednesday.

The victim’s identity had not been released. Police continued to search for two suspects.

The shooting call at an apartment complex in the 800 block of South Nursery Road came into police at 7:22 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers arrived to find an adult male lying in a driveway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas where he later died, police said.

Detectives determined that the victim and an acquaintance were in the parking lot having a conversation. Two African-American men armed with handguns walked up and demanded their wallets, police said.

The victims fought back, police said. One victim broke free and began to run away. An assailant fired multiple shots, hitting the victim, police said.

Both assailants ran to a dark-colored four-door car and drove away, according to police.

Police had very little information on men as of Wednesday morning.
