2 pedestrians killed in Fort Worth when hit by SUV
Two people walking on Main Street in northwest Fort Worth were killed early Monday when they were hit by a sport utility vehicle, police said Monday.
Officials with the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office identified them as Jimmy Greer, 22, of Blue Mound and Haley Bentley, 18. No hometown was listed for Bentley.
The incident was reported about 12:30 a.m. Monday in the 5800 block of North Main Street, just north of Loop 820 in northwest Fort Worth near Saginaw.
The man and woman were walking in the northbound lanes of the street when they were struck, police Capt. David McElroy said in an email early Monday. They died at the scene.
A pickup that belonged to the male victim was discovered just south of where the bodies were found, police said.
The driver of the SUV stopped immediately after striking the couple, police said.
No charges are pending against the driver, McElroy said.
