Fort Worth police say two Monday morning shooting deaths related
Homicide detectives were investigating two early morning shootings that left a man and a woman dead.
A suspect was in custody Monday evening in the shooting of a woman, and police believe the same man shot another person just 20 minutes later.
The first shooting was reported at 4:40 a.m. in the lobby of a Motel 6 at 6600 South Freeway, near Interstate 35W and Altamesa Boulevard. Officers found a woman fatally wounded, police reported.
About 20 minutes later, a shooting was reported at a house in the 2000 block of Daniel Street in east Fort Worth near South Riverside Drive. The man there was pronounced dead at the scene, police Lt. Robin Krouse said.
He was identified as Alton Young, 44, of Fort Worth, by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
The dead woman’s name had not been released by Monday evening.
“These shootings are being investigated as two offenses involving the same suspect,” police spokesman Sgt. Steve Enright said.
The suspect was not immediately identified. Monday evening, police were in the process of obtaining a second warrant for the man, accusing him in the Daniel Street shooting, Enright said.
