Thanksgiving: What’s closed, open in Tarrant County

Thursday

All school districts and nonessential federal, state, county and municipal offices will be closed, as will banks, stock markets and the U.S. Postal Service.

The Fort Worth Transportation Authority will operate buses and MITS under a Sunday schedule. Molly the Trolley will operate 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The T’s customer service phone lines will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Trinity Railway Express will not run.

The Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge is closed but will reopen Friday.

The Fort Worth Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Trash collection

No trash will be picked up anywhere Thursday. After that, schedules vary by city. For those not listed, check the city's website.

Arlington, Colleyville, Keller and Mansfield will resume service on the next scheduled collection day.

In Bedford, Euless, Fort Worth, Grapevine, Hurst, North Richland Hills and Southlake, Thursday pickups will shift to Friday and Friday pickups to Saturday.

Residents in Fort Worth are allowed two extra bags of trash on their first pickup day after Thanksgiving.

Friday

Federal offices will be open, but most school districts and nonessential state, county and municipal offices will be closed.

The T will run a regular bus schedule, but the TRE will operate on a modified Saturday schedule. The T’s customer service phone lines will be staffed from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m.
