Pennsylvania driver killed in multivehicle wreck in north Fort Worth
A Pennsylvania motorist was killed Monday morning on Interstate 35W in north Fort Worth when his car was hit from behind by a tanker truck near a construction zone, police said Tuesday.
Police had not determined why the truck was unable to avoid a collision, which happened as traffic slowed for road work.
The victim was identified as Mark Boland, 66, of Huntington, Pa. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:35 a.m., according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.
Five vehicles were involved in the wreck in the southbound lanes of I-35W near Heritage Trace Parkway. Four people were seriously injured; their conditions were not available Tuesday.
The truck collided with the 2015 silver Hyundai, killing Boland and injuring his passenger. The Hyundai in turn hit a red Kia Sportage, which collided with a Ford Escape. The Escape then hit an 18-wheeler.
Police closed the southbound lanes for more than three hours to investigate.
