United Way of Tarrant County announces new hire

Regional CEO for the American Red Cross North Texas TD Smyers is joining the United Way of Tarrant County team in a new position that will help raise money and promote the nonprofit’s impact areas.

Smyers will fill a new combined role as Chief Operations Officer and Chief Development Officer, effective Nov. 30. He has been regional CEO for the American Red Cross North Texas for the last four years.

Tim McKinney, president and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County said the new post will help increase the agency’s “effectiveness and efficiency across different departments, as well as connecting operations with resource development fund raising.”

Symers retired in 2011 as Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base.
