Man killed in fiery Lake Worth crash identified

A 60-year-old man killed in a fiery single-vehicle wreck early Monday morning in Lake Worth was identified Wednesday.

Ira Wright, of Lake Worth, was pronounced dead at 3:32 a.m. Monday, according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office. A cause of death was not listed.

Wright was driving west on Loop 820 when his Ford F-150 pickup struck a concrete pillar beneath the Azle Avenue bridge, Lake Worth officer Don Price said.

The truck was engulfed in flames when Fort Worth and Lake Worth firefighters arrived. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.

The wreck shut down the busy stretch of highway in that area until 10:45 a.m., Price said. Factors and circumstances causing the accident were still unknown Wednesday.
