Two sentenced to 20 years on meth charges in Fort Worth

Two Fort Worth area residents were sentenced this week to 20 years in federal prison on unrelated methamphetamine cases, the Department of Justice said in a press release.

Corey Duane Bowles, 43, of White Settlement, and Rachel Adams, 30, of Weatherford, were both sentenced Monday in Fort Worth by U.S. District Judge Reed C. O’Connor. The U.S. attorney’s office for the Northern District of Texas prosecuted the cases.

Bowles pleaded guilty in July to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, the release said. According to court documents, Bowles admitted to the crime in March when he sold methamphetamine during an undercover operation in Fort Worth.

The Drug Enforcement Administration, the Weatherford/Parker County Special Crimes Unit and the Weatherford Police Department investigated the case.

Bowles has been sentenced to jail or prison eight times since 1991 on Tarrant County charges, including theft of a vehicle, burglary of a habitation and possession of a controlled substance.

Adams, who was also facing two drug charges in Tarrant County, pleaded guilty in July to one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute at least 50 grams of methamphetamine, Tuesday’s release said.

Starting last year, Adams received multi-ounce and pound quantities of methamphetamine from a co-conspirator, according to court documents. Other co-conspirators also received methamphetamine from Adams, and in turn, Adams and others distributed methamphetamine to various customers in Benbrook, Fort Worth, Arlington and Wichita Falls, the release said.

Adams was sentenced to 45 days in jail in 2009 and 10 days in jail last year for possession of marijuana.
