ShowBiz Cinemas to build near Chisholm Trail Parkway in Fort Worth

Dallas-based ShowBiz Cinemas will open an entertainment complex and theater near Chisholm Trail Parkway and McPherson Boulevard in far south Fort Worth, a developer said Wednesday.

The 65,000-square-foot theater will include 10 auditoriums, 14 bowling lanes and a game room. The theater is planned to open in spring 2017, said StreetLevel Investments in Dallas, which has acquired two retail corners in the 625-acre Chisholm Trail Ranch community.

“We are passionate about exceeding the expectations of our customers and providing an outstanding overall entertainment experience,” said Kevin Mitchell, ShowBiz Cinemas president, in a statement.

The theaters will feature approximately 70-foot, wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor silver screens, Dolby ATMOS 3D surround sound, oversized leather reclining chairs, and the latest 6,500 watt Barco projectors, the company said.

ShowBiz Cinemas operates 42 screens at six Texas locations, including a facility in Granbury.

The Walton Group of Cos. recently started construction on the residential portion of Chisholm Trail Ranch. Walton owns 268 acres in the master-planned development. It plans about 1,100 homes. Walton also owns 1,755 acres nearby, where Tarleton State University plans a Fort Worth campus.

The Chisholm Trail Parkway stretches from Cleburne to downtown Fort Worth and opened in 2014.

Several developers have bought land along the parkway for residential and commercial projects.
