Southwest finishes 8th, Aledo 10th in UIL marching band finals
Fort Worth Southwest finished eighth and Aledo came in 10th at the finals late Tuesday at the Class 5A UIL State Marching Band Contest at San Antonio’s Alamodome.
Cedar Park finished first in the day-long competition, followed by Austin Vandegriff, Leander, Cedar Park Vista Ridge, Frisco Wakeland, Dripping Springs and Waxahachie.
Birdville and Chisholm Trail were among 31 Class 5A bands that performed in preliminary competition Tuesday morning and afternoon, but did not advance to the finals.
Under the UIL’s rotating competition schedule, Class 1A, 2A, 3A and 5A marching bands compete this year at state. Next year, Class 4A and 6A marching bands will have the chance to compete.

Class 3A: 1. Whitesboro, 2. Clifton, 3. Mineola, 4. Queen City, 5. White Oak, 6. Cameron Yoe, 7. Van Alstyne, 8. Denver City, 9. Crane 10. Holliday
