Victim identified in Fort Worth house fire
A woman found dead in a house fire Friday morning has been identified as 61-year-old Joyce Sarrett, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Sunday.
Sarrett was pronounced dead at the scene, medical examiner officials said. A ruling on her death is pending.
A 49-year-old firefighter suffered minor burns in the blaze, and he was taken to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth, where he was treated and released.
Firefighters responded to calls about the fire shortly after 10 a.m. Friday in west Fort Worth.
When they arrived, firefighters found heavy smoke coming from a residence in the 200 block of McGee Drive.
While fighting the fire, the crews found Sarrett’s body. She had lived at the residence with her father, fire officials said. He was not home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
