Woman’s body found in house fire in west Fort Worth
A woman died and a firefighter was injured in a residential fire Friday morning in west Fort Worth.
Firefighters were alerted shortly after 10 a.m. to a house fire in the 200 block of McGee Drive. Fire crews arrived minutes later and found heavy smoke coming from the residence.
While fighting the fire, the crews discovered the body of a woman, 61, who is believed to have lived at the residence with her father.
Also, a 49-year-old firefighter suffered minor burns and was treated and released at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The woman’s father, who was not home at the time, is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
