Snowball Express gets $250,000 contribution
Snowball Express has received their largest cash contribution to date, $250,000 from the Fort Worth-based Air Power Foundation.
“That is a huge donation and it is also a huge vote of confidence from that group,” said Dan Ronan, a director on the Snowball Express board. “And I think that it is a really, really great thing in many respects.”
Snowball Express faced higher costs when it decided to move the operation from Dallas to Fort Worth for 2014, and was initially behind in one of their fundraising goals.
“From an overall standpoint we are in pretty good shape,” Ronan said. “We are also looking at the largest expected turnout that we have ever had.”
The four-day weekend of healing and fun brought nearly 1,800 spouses and children of fallen troops from across the country to Dallas last year. The group made one-day visits to Fort Worth in 2013 and 2012.
The Air Power Foundation, a nationwide nonprofit dedicated to supporting active duty, reserve and National Guard families, has its roots from the Fort Worth Airpower Council, which was created to support the military community at then-Carswell Air Force Base.
