Fort Worth man sentenced to 25 years prison for crack cocaine
A 33-year-old Fort Worth man was sentenced to 25 years in federal prison Monday after police found “large clear bags” of crack cocaine at his residence, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Jeremy Warner was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Reed C. O’Connor on a charge of possession of crack cocaine with the intent to distribute, according to Monday’s news release.
His arrest stems from a search warrant Fort Worth police executed May 28 at his home in the 1300 block of Illinois Avenue, according to a criminal complaint.
Upon entering his house, police officer found Warner “running down the hallway toward the master bedroom,” the criminal complaint states. When they entered his bedroom they found him “attempting to barricade himself in the master bathroom,” according to the criminal complaint.
After Warner was taken into custody police found a clear bag of about 95 grams of crack cocaine in “plain view” on a kitchen counter next to a digital scale, the criminal complaint states.
In Warner’s master bedroom, police found two bags — one with 699 grams of crack cocaine and the other with 807 grams of powder cocaine, the affidavit states.
He also had $11,000 in his hallway closet, according to police.
He later admitted to purchasing and selling cocaine and crack cocaine, according to a May 29 criminal complaint.
In 2006, Warner was sentenced to eight years in prison on possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance between 4 and 200 grams, according to public records.
Earlier in the month, the Justice Department announced it would release 6,000 prisoners between Oct. 30 and Nov. 2 in an effort to reduce overcrowding and provide relief to drug offenders with harsh sentences.
