Motorist identified in fatal east Fort Worth crash


A 54-year-old motorist was killed early Saturday when his vehicle hit a bridge guardrail and fell into a river bed in east Fort Worth, Fort Worth police said.
A 54-year-old motorist was killed early Saturday when his vehicle hit a bridge guardrail and fell into a river bed in east Fort Worth, Fort Worth police said.

A driver killed Saturday when his vehicle flipped over a bridge guardrail in east Fort Worth was identified as David Selby, 54, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner’s website on Sunday.

Selby was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said. A hometown was not listed on the medical examiner’s website, but Tarrant County records indicated that Selby had lived in Benbrook.

The wreck was reported about 3 a.m. Saturday south of Trinity Boulevard and just north of the entrance ramp to northbound Loop 820 from Randol Mill Road.

Witnesses told police that Selby was driving the vehicle, which hit the guardrail, then went over it. Officials found Selby had died in the West Fork of the Trinity River below.

His death was ruled accidental and caused by blunt force injuries, according to the medical examiner’s website.
