Man shot dead near East Berry convenience store in Fort Worth

A 55-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night at a convenience store off East Berry Street, police reported.

Jeffrey Boozer, of Fort Worth, was pronounced dead near the intersection of Hatcher and East Berry Street at 9:23 p.m., according to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s office.

The gunman ran from the store in the 3000 block of Hatcher Street but was quickly caught and “placed in custody,” said Sgt. Steve Enright, a police spokesman.

A Fort Worth police incident report said officers were dispatched to the shooting at 9:15 p.m.

The suspect was not identified Monday night. Enright said only that he is in his 30s. His name and photo will be released when he has been booked into jail.
