Woman dies, teen injured in Lake Worth wreck
A 30-year-old woman was killed and a teenage girl hospitalized Saturday after their midsize SUV hit a bridge pillar on Northwest Loop 820.
The driver, Stephanie Flores of Fort Worth, died later at John Peter Smith Hospital and a teenage passenger was taken to Cook Children’s Medical Center after their vehicle drove into a bridge pillar at Azle Avenue.
Kyle Faulkner, a Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman, said the driver was pinned in the vehicle, which collided nearly head-on into the bridge pillar.
Faulkner added that another wreck, involving three vehicles, occurred as traffic tried to avoid the first accident. The Fire Department saw 10 patients, but only one was taken to a hospital.
The Tarrant County medical examiner’s office had not released the cause of Flores’ death.
