Charges dropped against TCU football players
Assault and robbery charges against two TCU football players accused of fighting with another student and then stealing his beer have been dropped, police said Friday.
The victim in the case has decided not to pursue criminal charges and the case has been closed, according to Steve Enright, police spokesman.
Defensive end Mike Tuaua and receiver Andre Petties-Wilson, who were arrested last week on robbery and assault charges, completed TCU’s discipline process earlier this week and and were welcomed back in practice, Coach Gary Patterson said Wednesday.
Both players were suspended for three games after the Sept. 4 incident near campus, in which they were accused of assaulting other TCU students at a party and stealing a case of beer.
“As an ambassador for this university, I’m sad for all parties, not just my guys, that the incident happened,” Patterson said after practice Wednesday. “They’ve had a three-game suspension. I’m saddened that the whole situation went down. Hopefully my guys learn from it.”
From a football standpoint, the players could provide a boost for the fourth-ranked Frogs, who have suffered a rash of injuries heading into Saturday’s game against Texas.
Tuaua is a senior defensive end and Petties-Wilson is a redshirt freshman wide receiver.
