Worker seriously injured in accident on golf course

A golf course worker was seriously injured Thursday morning in an ATV accident at Ridglea Country Club.

The 59-year-old man was raking a bunker with a three-wheeled utility vehicle when it went off a 25-foot retaining wall into a creek bed, Fort Worth Fire Department spokesman Kyle Clay said. The accident happened near the 13th hole on Ridglea’s Championship Course.

A co-worker spotted the man lying facedown in the water and pulled him up, Clay said. Firefighters, who arrived eight minutes after receiving the call, rescued the man.

He was taken to a hospital by CareFlite, which landed on the course. The man was initially unconscious but was responding to paramedics as they loaded him into the helicopter, Clay said.

MedStar spokesman Matt Zavadsky said the man’s injuries were “potentially life-threatening.”

A representative for Ridglea Country Club could not be reached for comment.
