Fort Worth firefighter honored on memorial wall

Star-Telegram

In July 1988, Fort Worth firefighter William Thompson was among responders to the site of a fire in unincorporated Tarrant County that later was found to be an illegal dumping ground for chemicals.

From then on, Thompson had respiratory problems, retiring in 2010 and dying of lung disease in 2014. In June, the city and state workers’ compensation officials came to an agreement that Thompson died of work-related injuries.

On Tuesday, his name was added to the Fort Worth Police and Firefighters Memorial in Trinity Park.
