Apartment fire displaces 15 on Hemphill Street in Fort Worth
An apartment fire near to John Peter Smith Hospital displaced six children and nine adults Tuesday night, according to fire officials.
Nine units in an apartment house at 1601 Hemphill St. were damaged, said firefighter Kyle Clay, a department spokesman.
“It wasn’t a big fire, but we have a lot of smoke damage,” Clay said.
Four upstairs and five downstairs units were affected, he said. The cause of the fire, which was called in at 8:06 p.m., was under investigation.
No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross was on the way to help the displaced residents, Clay said. — Monica S. Nagy
