Police seek help in Fort Worth robbery, hit-and-run
Police asked for help Wednesday identifying two thieves who hit a man with a pickup as they drove away from a business they robbed Saturday morning.
The 45-year-old man was hospitalized for two days, police said.
On Wednesday, detectives released surveillance-camera photographs of the thieves and the truck. One may be called “Don” and the other “Chad,” police said.
The theft occurred about 6:30 a.m. in the 100 block of Coad Street. The two were after electrical cable to strip for copper, police said.
The injured man, who had been sleeping at the business to prevent thefts, told police that he heard a truck engine revving about the time the lights went off. He stepped outside and saw a truck pulling chains tied around electrical cables and conduit.
The man tried to stop the pickup but retreated when the driver got out, police said. The driver got back in, drove forward and hit the man, police said.
The truck is a dark late-model extended-cab pickup, possibly a GMC or Chevrolet. The driver’s-side window has tape around the edge. The rear window is covered with plastic and tape.
The thieves are thought to frequent south Fort Worth and Burleson, as well as recycling locations.
