Resident, neighbor injured in Fort Worth mobile home fire
Two residents and a neighbor were injured Sunday morning in a mobile home fire in far north Fort Worth near the Keller city limit, fire officials said.
A 69-year-old resident suffered second-degree burns and was taken by helicopter ambulance to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, fire officials said. Another resident suffered minor injuries and refused treatment.
The residents were helped out of the mobile home by a 46-year-old neighbor who suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She also was taken to the Dallas hospital.
The names of the injured were not released.
Firefighters rescued a dog, but two birds died.
Fire investigators believe someone smoking in the mobile home started the fire.
Firefighters responded to the fire call shortly after 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Fumar Lane near Sereno Lane.
“There was heavy smoke and fire coming out of the mobile home,” Battalion Chief Richard Harrison said Sunday.
Red Cross officials were assisting the residents.
