Crews make progress on 48-inch waterline break in Fort Worth
Crews continued working Saturday night to repair a 48-inch waterline break near the University Drive entrance at Trinity Park.
The break occurred at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday on a line coming from the Holly treatment plant, Water Department spokeswoman Mary Gugliuzza said.
Repairs were not expected to be finished until Sunday, she said. No customers were experiencing water-pressure issues because of the break Saturday night, she said.
“It’s going to take awhile to get this line reloaded and back into service,” she said.

Crews responded to a call at 8 a.m., after the break began gushing water. Workers spent the morning closing multiple valves to isolate the break.
Waterline breaks are not uncommon, she said, but breaks in lines this large are. As for what might have caused it, Gugliuzza said it could be a combination of age, dry ground and other factors.
“It’s hard to definitively say,” she said.
