The Naval Air Station Fort Worth contributed at least $4.6 billion to the Texas economy, according to a report from the Texas Comptroller.

The base had the fourth-largest contribution to the Texas economy out of the 14 military installations in the state. Joint Base San Antonio had the highest economic impact, with $53.5 billion.

Fort Hood ($37.9 billion) and Fort Bliss ($29.1 billion) were the only other installations with a higher economic impact than Fort Worth. In total, the 14 installations contributed over $148.8 billion into the Texas economy.

Formerly known as Carswell Air Force Base, the naval air station houses a variety of Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Army and Texas Air National Guard units. The base employs 4,553 people, including 2,175 active duty military personnel.

The base is home to 40 commands, which include 13 logistics squadrons that accrue over 40,000 hours of flight time each year. It serves as a hub for Lockheed Martin and owns Air Force Plant 4, which Lockheed uses to manufacture military aircraft. In Fort Worth, Lockheed Martin generates a regional economic impact of $9 billion.
