A $48.8 million road construction project in southwest Fort Worth will break ground this month.

The McCart Avenue and McPherson Boulevard project will expand sections of those roads, and construct a new road that will ultimately link several southwest Fort Worth neighborhoods. The project was approved as part of the 2014 bond.

McCart Avenue from Risinger Road to McPherson Boulevard will be constructed as a four lane road with a divider.

McCart Avenue from McPherson Boulevard to Twin Leaf Drive will be constructed as a two-lane undivided road.

McPherson Boulevard from West Cleburne Road to McCart Avenue will be constructed as a four-lane road with a divider.

Roundabouts will also be constructed at the intersections of McCart Avenue and McPherson Boulevard, and McCart Avenue and North Crowley-Cleburne Road.

Fort Worth city staff gave residents an update in an online meeting on June 17.

During that meeting, construction project managers said that the project would be completed in phases, but they were not ready to publicly release a complete schedule.

The complete project budget, city staff said in that meeting, is $48.8 million. Construction is expected to reach “substantial completion” by July 2028, Fort Worth project manager Abby Tucker said during the meeting.
