Fort Worth firefighter’s funeral is this week. Wife continues search for kidney
The Fort Worth Fire Department will honor 30-year veteran firefighter Todd Brook at his funeral this Wednesday, June 17.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m at Doxology Bible Church, 4805 Arborlawn Drive in Fort Worth, according to the Fire Department.
Brook died June 5 from pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer, who has been battling kidney failure for years.
The firefighter’s final wish was to find a kidney donor for his wife, the Star-Telegram previously reported.
In lieu of flowers the family has asked for donations to be made directly to Jennifer Brook to help “fund Jennifer’s critical search for a kidney donor and her medical journey towards a transplant,” the Fire Department posted on Facebook.
Todd Brook’s colleagues told the Star-Telegram that in his final days all he was concerned about was getting his wife a kidney. He had planned on donating his kidney to her before he became ill.
You can find the link to the QR code to donate on the Fort Worth Fire Department Facebook page, and if you are interested in learning more about kidney donation you can do so at the UT Southwestern Medical Center website.
