No one laughing about parking snafus between Nate Bargatze’s Dickies Arena shows
By all accounts, most people who went to comedian Nate Bargatze’s two sold out shows at Dickies Arena on June 6 had a good time.
Getting in and out of the arena sparked a lot less joy.
People who attended Bargatze’s 3 p.m. show reported waiting as long as two hours to get out of the parking garage, according to posts on social media.
Social media posts and videos show cars lined up along Montgomery Street trying to get into the parking garage and surface lots.
Some reported stand-still traffic on Lancaster Avenue and North University Drive trying to get into the arena.
Bargatze had shows at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., which were both taped for his upcoming Netflix special.
“Due to the first show running longer than anticipated and heavy thunderstorms, the Arena staff worked closely with local law enforcement to manage guest traffic as efficiently as possible under challenging circumstances and a compressed timeframe,” said arena spokesperson Whitney Blake in an email to the Star-Telegram.
The start of the 7 p.m show was pushed back to make sure ticketed guests were able to make it, Blake said, adding arena staff appreciated the patience of show goers during the event.
“Dickies Arena is currently evaluating the event and will continue exploring opportunities to improve parking and traffic logistics for future events,” she said.
