TCU fraternity chapter suspended after conduct appeal, officials say
Texas Christian University’s chapter of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity was suspended Thursday at the conclusion of a conduct appeal process, officials with the university’s interfraternity council said.
The chapter will not recruit new members this fall or participate in other council activities during the suspension period, according to the statement.
“TCU remains committed to fostering a safe and positive fraternity and sorority experience that reflects the university’s values,” a university spokesperson said. “Consistent with university practice and privacy considerations, we do not comment on student conduct matters.”
No further details were immediately available Friday regarding the length of the suspension period or the conduct that led to the chapter’s suspension. Officials with the TCU Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and officials with the Sigma Phi Epsilon national organization could not be reached for comment.
In April, three TCU students were injured in a crash at a Sigma Phi Epsilon event near Alpers, Oklahoma, the Star-Telegram previously reported. It’s unclear whether the chapter’s suspension was related to that incident.
