The Stockyards welcome World Cup fans looking for the ‘Texas experience’
The Fort Worth Stockyards says it will serve as the “Western Base Camp” for World Cup visitors looking for an authentic Texas experience.
The popular attraction has special events planned throughout the tournament, running from June 11 through July 19. Nine games are scheduled at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, starting with Sunday’s match between the Netherlands and Japan.
The festivities include:
• Stockyards Championship Rodeo: Performances featuring bull riding, barrel racing and team roping.
• PBR Stockyards Showcase: Bull Riders every Thursday night from June 11 through July 16.
• Bill Pickett Invitational Rodeo: An event to honor the legacies of Black rodeo athletes on June 20.
• Ultimate Bullfighters: A head-to-head standoff June 21, July 5, and July 19.
• Specialty events: Cowtown Cup Barrel Race on June 15 and the Cowtown Cup Super Sort on July 1 .
• Billy Bob’s Texas Fan Experience: The honky-tonk will show soccer matches, hold line dance lessons twice a day and feature an acoustic singer every afternoon.
• Live Music District-Wide: Live music across the district every day.
• Michelob Ultra Fan Zones: Watch party from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Friday and Saturday.
• Old West Comedy Shows: Running at 11:45 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. daily.
• Fort Worth herd twice-daily cattle drive: Every day at 11:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., visitors can line the streets as Texas drovers lead a herd of longhorns down Exchange Avenue twice every day.
• The Herd Experience: Available Friday through Sunday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., this program allows you to have an up close encounter with the longhorns and learn about the history of the cattle drive.
• Domingos de Fiesta: Held every Sunday, Domingos de Fiesta is a celebration of the international spirit of the World Cup. Live musice, food, drink and a celebration of Latin culture.
• Red, White & Boots Celebration: America’s 250th Edition: From June 26 through July 5, the Stockyards will celebrate the nation’s 250th birthday.
• Stockyards Howdy World Merchandise: Cowboy merchandise will be available at kiosks around the district.
• Legacy of the Longhorn: A live 45-minute Cowtown Coliseum show covers the history of the Texas longhorn, cattle drives, and the creation of the Fort Worth Stockyards.
