All southbound lanes of Loop 820 in west Fort Worth were closed for several hours near White Settlement Road because of a fatal rollover crash Monday afternoon, according to police and the Texas Department of Transportation.

According to a Fort Worth police call log, a 911 caller reported that a “car flew off the bridge and is now on its roof.”

When officers arrived, they confirmed that a vehicle hit a bridge pillar and rolled over, police said. One person in the car was pronounced dead at the scene and will be identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The accident was reported about 12:25 p.m. Drivers were told to expect delays and use alternate routes.

All lanes reopened about 5:50 p.m., according to TxDOT.
