1 killed in multi-vehicle crash on U.S. 287 in north Fort Worth early Tuesday
Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash that killed a man on U.S. 287 in north Fort Worth early Tuesday.
Around 30 police units responded to U.S. 287 near Blue Mound Road starting about 2:15 a.m. after receiving a call about a car that had rolled, according to the 911 call sheet.
According to police, a single vehicle had been involved in an accident and was blocking one lane of the highway. The driver of a semi truck stopped to help. The semi’s driver turned on the hazard lights and tried to block the disabled vehicle.
A third vehicle struck the tractor-trailer and the original vehicle, police said. A man in the third vehicle died at the scene. He was identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office as 42-year-old Marvin Travis Harper.
The northbound lanes of U.S. 287 were closed near Blue Mound Road for several hours while the crash was cleared, officials said.
Traffic Investigation Unit detectives are looking into the cause of the fatal crash.
