Fort Worth firefighter injured in 2-alarm warehouse blaze released from hospital
The Fort Worth firefighter who was injured in a two-alarm blaze at a north Fort Worth warehouse Friday morning has been released from the hospital, officials said.
Firefighters responded to the fire at 2101 Terminal Road, near Meacham Airport and the BNSF North rail yard, shortly after 6:45 a.m. They found heavy smoke and fire coming from the single-story warehouse, according to a department Facebook post. Workers were in the process of evacuating the building.
A second alarm was called about 7 a.m., and the River Oaks and Saginaw fire departments arrived to help out. The blaze was declared under control shortly after 8:45 a.m., according to the post.
Department spokesperson Craig Trojacek told the Star-Telegram about 9:45 a.m. that crews were still at the scene and the fire would probably burn for some time.
“A lot of it was big bales of cardboard,” Trojacek said of the things stored in the warehouse.
One firefighter sustained burn injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He was released a few hours later.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said.
