Missing man found dead after three weeks; suspect arrested, Fort Worth police say
A man reported missing in early December was found dead in north Fort Worth, and a suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing, Fort Worth police said in a news release Wednesday.
A missing persons report was filed on Dec. 2. Investigators later came to suspect the case involved foul play and referred it to homicide detectives, police said.
On Dec. 22, detectives found the man in a shallow grave in a wooded area of north Fort Worth in Denton County, police said.
Investigators determined that the victim had left a party with the suspect, Alexander James Nicholas, 23, on Nov. 30, police said.
Nicholas provided a statement to detectives, including the location where he claimed to have left the victim alive, according to police. Homicide detectives found evidence that contradicted Nicholas’ statement and arrested him.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
The victim will be identified after the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has determined the official cause and manner of death.
